Deciding on a baby stroller can be such an overwhelming process.

With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to identify what stroller will be best for you and your family.

At the time when my husband and I were trying to figure out what stroller to add to our registry, our main priority was to find a stroller that would evolve with our growing family.  Also, I didn’t want to be the mom that had five separate strollers, each with a different purpose, taking up space in the garage.  I wanted to find ONE stroller that could be used for EVERY event and occasion.  This took some research, but ultimately three years after our stroller purchase, I am still thrilled with our decision!

So, what stroller did we decide on? The Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller!

Now, why did we decide on the Baby Jogger City Select?

Here’s a list of FIVE reasons why we decided on this stroller:

1. Double Stroller with Accessories that Allow for a Third Child

The stroller is designed to hold up to two seats, with a total of 16 different configurations, assuming you purchase two seats, two car seat adapters, and two prams. Initially we purchased two seats and a single car seat adapter, we never purchased a pram since the seats recline. Once we found out we were having twins, we ended up buying a second car seat adapter, so technically we have 12 different available configurations.

If you plan on having more than one child, I recommend buying two seats at the same time, just to make sure you end up with matching seat colors. You never know if they will discontinue making a certain color.

Also, if you are buying two seats or two car seat adapters, you will need to buy a set of seat brackets to hold the second seat:

As far as fitting a third child on the stroller, Baby Jogger sells a glider board:

Despite having three kids, we did not end up purchasing this glider board. When our twins arrived, our first born was only 20 months old, and we didn’t think she was coordinated enough to stand on the glider board. Instead, we went with a non Baby Jogger product, and purchased the Englacha 2-in-1 Cozy 2-Wheel Rider so she could sit:

Note: I have the 2-wheel rider, not the 4-wheel rider shown in the picture above. When you click the photo/link, the 2-wheel is shown as a different option for approximately $105.

This is my absolute FAVORITE, and we use it pretty much every day. Having three kids, we could not get by without the Cozy Rider, converting our double stroller to a triple stroller!

2. Car Seat Compatibility

The Baby Jogger City Select has car seat adapters for the following types of car seats:

  • Chicco and Peg Perego
  • CityGO and Graco
  • Britax and BOB
  • Maxi-Cosi and Cybex
  • Nuna

Make sure to double check and make sure your car seat is compatible with the adapter, and that the adapter is compatible with the City Select.

3. Stroller Width and Height

I know some people prefer a side by side stroller so both children have a good view, but I think single wide strollers are easier to navigate through busy crowds and through single doorways.  The back seat on the Baby Jogger City Select is placed higher than the front seat, which allows both kiddos to see in front (assuming both seats are in the forward facing position). The City Select is approximately 25.75 inches wide.

The stroller is equipped with a telescoping handlebar, where the stroller height can be adjusted from 40.75 – 43.11 inches. I consider myself fairly tall at 5 feet 10 inches, and feel very comfortable pushing this stroller.

4. Decent Sized Wheels

I consider the wheels on this stroller to be sized appropriately.  We’ve taken the stroller to the county fair, and had no problem pushing the stroller through the grass.  Also, once we had our twins, I relied on this stroller to take our twins into and out of daycare, five days a week! We live in Minnesota, and there were a few days with snow, where the stroller cut through the crud no problem! Granted, this wasn’t a blizzard, but maybe two inches of snow?! Regardless, I’m still impressed.  I will say that the stroller has not done well on dry sandy beaches, but otherwise it seems to fair well with common terrain. Here are the wheel dimensions:

  • Front Wheels: 8 inches
  • Back Wheels: 12 inches

The front wheels are considered “PU foam-filled” and the rear tiers are “Forever-Air tire”, meaning they aren’t filled with air and won’t go flat. Also, the front wheels can be locked to prevent them from swiveling during long walks if you prefer.

Overall, the wheels make for a smooth ride, and make the stroller very easy to maneuver.

5. Other Handy Features

  • Easy access brake – located near handlebar
  • Large undercarriage basket (for the endless amounts of STUFF!)
  • 5-Point harnesses
  • Seats are equipped with large canopy with peak-a-boo window
  • Additional accessories: Seat tray, belly bar, parent console, etc. can be purchased separately. Make sure to check them all out!

I hope you found this helpful! Let me know if you have any questions about the Baby Jogger City Select or any of the accessories. If you choose to purchase this stroller, I hope you end up loving it as much as we do!
