I like to keep seasonal decorations pretty simple. We don’t have a lot of storage in our house, so I find that I am constantly thinking about where decorations are going to be stored during the off season.

I love decorating with wreaths because a) they can quickly transform the look of a front porch, b) are easy to hang, c) take up little storage space, d) there are so many different kinds…You could literally have a different wreath for each day of the year, and e) they can be both fun and easy to make!

Supplies for making a fall wreath can be found at pretty much every craft store. This step by step tutorial uses supplies purchased from Dollar Tree (with the exception of the hot glue gun).

Directions:

Step 1

Take your first strand of garland and start to wrap it around the inner portion of the wreath form. As you wrap the garland, make sure to pull all the leaves through so they end up on the front of the form.

Don’t worry if the backs of the leaves are showing. You’ll fix this later!

Step 2

Continue to add more strands of garland to the wreath form, making sure the leaves are pulled to the front of the form and distributed evenly around the form. As you add more garland it’s okay to jump around to different rings on the wreath form, as shown in the following photo:

It’s okay if a few leaves fall off during this process. Make sure to save these so they can be glued on later.

Step 3

Once you’ve attached all the garland, the leaves will all look pretty crazy, and you’ll likely still be able to see portions of the wreath form. This is the step where you’ll fix that. Using your glue gun, start to glue the leaves in place, making sure the front of each leaf is up. I glued the leaves near the form directly to the form, and then started gluing leaves to other leaves. The goal here is to make sure the leaves are secure and the form can no longer be seen. If you had leaves fall off the garland earlier, this is where you can take and glue those in place:

Step 4

Now it’s time to add the berries! One strand of garland had berries, but I wanted to add more for additional texture and depth. I disassembled the different berry strands and used the hot glue gun to secure them to the leaves. Here is the final product:

Step 5

Now it’s time to hang the wreath on your door. I like to use the command hooks by 3M:

These hooks are super easy to install and remove. Just make sure to follow the directions on the back of the packaging.

Step 6

Now you can place your new wreath on the hook and enjoy!

I hope this was helpful and you were able to create a wreath you’ll want to display on your front door each fall!
